Well, I have to beautiful neices and their mother puts their hair in puffs, which you know I LOVE. I got to thinking that Christmas is coming and what am I going to get them. I always buy clothes but this year I wanted to maybe do a doll.

ReplyDeleteIt is funny when you think about race and toys. I am so used to seeing black, Asian, and Latino girls playing with white dolls, however, to see a white kid playing with black dolls seems like an anomaly. The other day at work there was a little white toddler carrying around a well loved black baby doll. Both parents and grandparents were white but the doll was clearly a black doll. I wanted to say something to the parents but I didn't know if it was appropriate. Now I want to give black dolls to all of my white friends' little girls. All of my friends are pretty cool (they are friends with me obviously) but I think it would still throw them for a loop.
