Why isn't my hair growing??

I thought I would break down why/how our hair length is due part to our genetics and how we care for our hair.

First let me say: YOUR HAIR IS GROWING!

Now I'll explain the hair stages:

Anagen-the growth stage. I've seen pages say that this phase can last anywhere from 2 to 6 years. During this phase your hair is growing 1/2 inch to an inch a month. About 80 to 90 percent of your hair is in this phase at one time.

Catagen-the end of the growth cycle. This stage last for a couple of weeks, sets the stage for regrowth and the next stage.

Telogen-the resting phase. This is where you shed hair so that new hair can start all over. This phase last about 2 to 3 months preparing for the anagen phase to start all over.

Now here's an easy equation to try to find out how long your hair will ever be.

Your hair grows 1/2 inch every month ( 6 inches in a year)
Your anagen phase last 4 years           ( 4 years of six inches)

6x4=24.

That's a lot right?? Now why haven't you seen that much length: Because of how we are caring for our hair. If hair is breaking at the rate it's growing you're never going to see 24 inches of hair. This is why sealing and caring for those ends are so important for us to retain length. Also, keeping a good growth environment; you can't expect something to grow in dirt except for plants.

When trying to calculate your length, make sure to factor in trims.

Happy Hair Growing!
