Tips for dry Hair

I often see many questions about dry hair so I thought to do a post on it. I'm just going to give a few tips on this subject. These aren't in any specific order.

1. You may need to cut down on how often you shampoo and what kind you are using.

2. Make sure to always moisturize with a water based product (water will be the 1st ingredient)

3. Increase your dc's. Maybe if you're doing once a month, try twice.

4. Always seal your hair after you moisturize or everything you put in will evaporate out.

5. Experiment with different diy products. Get your spray bottle and get to mixing

6. Water!Water! Water! Inside & Out. Since being natural I've increased my water intake a lot.

7. Condition A LOT....maybe add a leave in if you don't use one.

8. Use Satin scarf/bonnet and/or pillowcase

9. Limit heat; it's very drying to your hair.Think about burning a piece of chicken and that's your hair.

10. Massage your scalp. Try a few minutes once or twice a day. Increases sebum & circulation

11. Try Hot oil treatments

12. Don't use towels..dry hair with a tshirt or something of the sort

Okay, I said I'd give a few tips. Lol...the thing is to never be afraid to ask or try something,  because all these "tried & true" products got started with a person trying it and recommending it.

  1. GREAT TIPS! Why shouldn't you use a towel to dry hair?

  2. Thanks hon! I say don't use a towel because towels are drying and rough for our hair. The purpose of the towel is to absorb moisture and that's what it will do with your hair also. If you use it, be gentle be cause the added friction can tangle your hair. Don't rub...do like a squeeze.

  4. Good Morning & thank you. I actually just make my own with conditioner, water, aloe vera juice and/or glycerin. Try the Cantu Shea, everyone raves about it but my hair doesn't like high protein. I'm gonna try Giovanni direct leave in soon, so maybe that also.
